While the Prophet of Allah was relieving himself among some palm trees belonging to us, palm trees belonging to Abu Talha, Bilal was walking behind him, considering it disrespectful to the Prophet of Allah to walk beside him. The Prophet of Allah ﷺ passed by a grave and stopped until Bilal caught up with him.He said, "Woe to you, Bilal, do you hear what I hear?"Bilal replied, "I hear nothing."He said, "The occupant of this grave is being punished."Inquiries were made about the person, and he was found to have been a Jew.
بينما نبي الله في نخل لنا، نخل لأبي طلحة يتبرز لحاجته، قال: وبلال يمشي وراءه، يكرم نبي الله أن يمشي إلى جنبه، فمر نبي الله ﷺ بقبر، فقام حتى تم إليه بلال فقال: ويحك يا بلال، هل تسمع ما أسمع؟ قال: ما أسمع شيئا، قال: صاحب القبر يعذب، قال: فسئل عنه فوجد يهوديا.
Imam Ahmad (12530) narrated it from Abdul-Samad, who said, my father told me, Abdul-Aziz told us, from Anas, and he mentioned it. Haythami said in Majma(3/56), Ahmad narrated it, and its men are the men of sahih.I say, it is as he said, and Abdul-Aziz is Ibn Suhayb.
