The Prophet ﷺ went out after the sun had set and heard a sound, so he said, "Jews are being punished in their graves."
خرج النبي ﷺ وقد وجبت الشمس فسمع صوتا فقال: يهود تعذب في قبورها.
Bukhari narrated it in the Book of Funerals (1375), and Muslim in the Description of Paradise and Hell (2869), both from the hadith of Shubah, from Awn bin Abu Juhayfa, from his father, from Bara bin Azib, from Abu Ayub, who related the hadith. The wording given is Bukhari's, and Muslim's wording is close to it, containing, "His messenger went out after the sun had set." His saying, "The sun has set (wajabat)" means it went down, referring to its setting.
