We went out with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ to attend a funeral, and I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ standing at the grave instructing the digger, "Widen it at the foot end, widen it at the head end."In another narration, "Many a date palm cluster awaits him in Paradise."
خرجنا مع رسول الله ﷺ في جنازة، فرأيت رسول الله ﷺ وهو على القبر يوصى الحافر: أوسع من قبل رجليه، أوسع من قبل رأسه. وفي رواية: لرب عذق له في الجنة.
Abu Dawud (3332) narrated it from Muhammad bin Ala, who said, Ibn Idris informed us, Asim bin Kulayb informed us, from his father, from a man from the Ansar, in a long hadith that will come in its proper place. Its isnad is hasan because of Asim and his father Kulayb, for they are both "truthful."Imam Ahmad (22509, 23465) narrated it at length and in abridged form through several routes from Asim bin Kulayb with his isnad. Hafiz [Ibn Hajar] graded its isnad sahih in Talkhis (2/127).
