The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever from my nation takes on a debt and then strives to repay it but dies before doing so, I am his guardian."
قال رسول الله ﷺ: من حمل من أمتي دينا، ثم جهد في قضائه، فمات ولم يقضه، فأنا وليه.
Ahmad narrated it (24455, 25211), and this wording is his, and Ishaq bin Rahawayh in his Musnad (1063), and Abu Yaala (4838), all of them through various routes from Ibn Shihab, from Abu Salama, from Ayesha, who related it. Its chain of transmission is sahih.Haythami said in Majma (4/132), "Ahmad, Abu Yaala, and Tabarani in Awsat narrated it, and the men of Ahmad's narration are the men of the Sahih."
