The Prophet ﷺ said, "Hasten with the funeral. If the deceased was righteous, then it is good that you are bringing them to it, and if otherwise, then it is an evil that you are removing from your shoulders."
عن النبي ﷺ قال: أسرعوا بالجنازة، فإن تك صالحة فخير ما تقدموها إليه، وإن يك سوى ذلك فشر تضعونه عن رقابكم.
Bukhari narrated it in the Book of Funerals (1315), and Muslim in the Book of Funerals (944), both from the hadith of Sufyan bin Uyayna, who said, "We memorized it from Zuhri, from Saeed bin Musayab, from Abu Hurairah," and he mentioned the hadith. Malik narrated it in the Book of Funerals (56) from Nafi, from Abu Hurairah, and mentioned it.As for what was narrated from him that he said, "I was with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ at a funeral, and whenever I walked he would go ahead of me, so I would hurry, and whenever I hurried he would go ahead of me. I turned to a man beside me and said, 'The earth is folded up for him, and he is the intimate friend of Ibrahim'" - this contains an unknown narrator. Ishaq bin Rahawayh narrated it in his Musnad (139) from Nadr bin Shumayl, and Ahmad (7506, 7929) from Yazid, both from Abdullah bin Awn, who said, "Abu Muhammad Abdul-Rahman bin Ubayd told me," from Abu Hurairah, and he mentioned it.Abu Muhammad Abdul-Rahman bin Ubayd was narrated from only by Abdullah bin Awn bin Artaban, and no one deemed him reliable, so he falls among the unknown narrators, except that Ibn Hibban mentioned him in his book of reliable narrators (6/94), following his usual practice.
