Bayhaqi narrated it (3/406) via the route of Ibn Abu Maryam, who said, "Yahya bin Ayub narrated to me, Humayd narrated to me," and he mentioned it. Ibn Abu Maryam is Saeed bin Hakam Misri. Its isnad is hasan, on account of the discussion surrounding Yahya bin Ayub, who is Ghafiqi, except that his hadith is hasan, and he is among the narrators found in the six hadith collections.As for what was narrated from Nafi, who said, "Saeed bin Zayd bin Amr bin Nufayl died, and he had taken part in Badr. Umm Saeed said to Abdullah bin Umar, 'Will you embalm him with musk?' He replied, 'What perfume is better than musk? Bring your musk.' So she handed it to him." He said, "We did not do as you do, we would apply his embalming perfume to the soft parts of his body and his bodily creases." This is daif.Bayhaqi narrated it (3/406) via the route of Saeed bin Muslima, who said, "Ismail bin Umaya narrated to us, from Nafi," and he mentioned it. Saeed bin Muslima is Ibn Hisham bin Abdul-Malik bin Marwan Umawi, a resident of Jazirah. The scholars are unanimously agreed in declaring him daif, except for Ibn Adi, who softened his judgment of him, saying, "I hope he is among those whose hadith is not to be abandoned."
