Anas bin Malik reported,

We entered with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ upon Abu Sayf the blacksmith, who was the foster-father of Ibrahim . The Messenger of Allah ﷺ picked up Ibrahim, kissed him, and breathed in his scent.Then we came to him afterward, and Ibrahim was breathing his last. The eyes of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ began to overflow with tears.Abdul Rahman bin Awf said to him, "Even you, Messenger of Allah?"He replied, "Ibn Awf, this is mercy."Then he followed it with another remark, saying ﷺ, "The eye sheds tears and the heart grieves, but we say only what pleases our Lord. Truly, Ibrahim, we are saddened by your departure."In another narration, Anas bin Malik reported that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "A boy was born to me last night, and I named him after my forefather Ibrahim."He then handed him to Umm Sayf, the wife of a blacksmith called Abu Sayf. He set out to visit him and I followed him along. We came to Abu Sayf, who was blowing on his bellows, and the house had filled with smoke. I quickened my pace ahead of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said, "Abu Sayf, stop. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ has come."So he stopped. The Prophet ﷺ called for the boy, embraced him, and said what Allah willed him to say.Anas said, "I saw the child breathing his last in the hands of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and the eyes of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ welled up with tears."He said, "The eye sheds tears and the heart grieves, but we say only what pleases our Lord. By Allah, Ibrahim, we are saddened by losing you."In another narration, when Ibrahim passed away, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Ibrahim is my son. He died while still nursing, and he has two foster-mothers who will complete his nursing in Paradise."

عن أنس بن مالك قال

دخلنا مع رسول الله ﷺ على أبي سيف القين- وكان ظرا لإبراهيم عليه السلام- فأخذ رسول الله ﷺ إبراهيم فقبله وشمه، ثم دخلنا عليه بعد ذلك- وإبراهيم يجود بنفسه، فجعلت عينا رسول الله ﷺ و تذرفان، فقال له عبد الرحمن بن عوف: وأنت يا رسول الله؟ فقال: يا ابن عوف إنها رحمة ثم أتبعها بأخرى فقال ﷺ: إن العين تدمع والقلب يحزن، ولا نقول إلا ما يرضى ربنا، وإنا بفراقك يا إبراهيم لمحزونون. وفي رواية: قال أنس بن مالك: قال رسول الله ﷺ: ولد لي الليلة غلام فسميته- باسم أبي- إبراهيم ثم رفعه إلى أم سيف، امرأة قين، يقال له أبو سيف، فانطلق يأتيه وأتبعته، انتهينا إلى أبي سيف، وهو ينفخ بكيرة، قد امتلأ البيت دخانا، فأرعت المشي بين يدي رسول الله ﷺ فقلت: يا أبا سيف أمسك جاء رسول الله ﷺ، فأمسك، فدعا النبي ﷺ بالصبي، فضمه إليه وقال ما شاء الله أن يقول. فقال أنس: لقد رأيته وهو يكيد بنفسه بين يدي رسول الله ﷺ فدمعت عينا رسول الله ﷺ فقال: تدمع العين، ويحزن القلب، ولا نقول إلا ما يرضى ربنا، والله يا إبراهيم إنا بك لمحزونون. وفي رواية: فلما توفي إبراهيم قال رسول الله ﷺ: إن إبراهيم ابني، وإنه مات في الثدي، وإن له لظرين تكملان رضاعه في الجنة.
