Ahmad (8746) and Abu Yaala (6137) reported it through Sulayman bin Dawud, who is Tayalisi (2457), who said, "Imran narrated to us, from Qatada, from Abu Muraya, from Abu Hurairah," and he mentioned it.Haythami said in Majma al-Zawaid (3/13), "Ahmad and Abu Yaala reported it, and it contains Abu Muraya, whom I did not find anyone to authenticate or discredit, while the rest of its narrators are trustworthy."I say, it seems that "Abu Muraya" was obscure to Haythami, this is how it appears in Majma, and the correct form is "Abu Muraya" as it appears in Musnad Ahmad and Musnad Abu Yaala. Ibn Hibban included him in Thiqat (31/5) under his actual name, Abdullah bin Amr, saying of him, "Abdullah bin Amr, Abu Muraya Ajli, narrates from Imran bin Husayn and Salman, and he is counted among the people of Basra. Qatada and Aslam Ajli narrated from him."Haythami did not manage to find his entry in Thiqat, otherwise he would not have said what he said about him, since he generally relies on Ibn Hibban's authentication.Its chain is hasan because of Abu Muraya, for two narrators reported from him, Ibn Hibban mentioned him in Thiqat, and he is among the narrators covered in Tajil. Abu Saeed said of him, "He narrated little," meaning that he knew of him and said nothing negative about him.Busiri said in Ithaf (2704), "Abu Dawud Tayalisi, Abu Yaala, and Ahmad reported it with a sahih chain."There is also another narration from Abu Hurairah, marfu, "Any wailing woman who dies before repenting, Allah will clothe her in a garment of tar and make her stand before the people on the Day of Resurrection," except that it is daif.Abu Yaala (5979) reported it from Abu Ibrahim Tarjumani, who said, "Ubays bin Maymun narrated to us, Yahya bin Abu Kathir narrated to us, from Abu Salama, from Abu Hurairah," and he mentioned it.Ubays bin Maymun, also called Isa bin Maymun as in Tahzib Kamal and its derivative works, is Wasiti, and he is the freedman of Qasim bin Muhammad bin Abu Bakr Siddiq, from whom he narrates.Bukhari said, "He is Abu Ubayda Ubays bin Maymun Taymi, from Yahya bin Abu Kathir and others, his hadith is rejected."Ibn Adi said, "Most of what he narrates is not preserved," in Mizan (27/3). Yahya bin Main, Abu Hatim, Tirmidhi, Nasai, and others graded him daif.Ibn Hibban said, "His hadith is extremely rejected. He narrates from trustworthy narrators things that seem fabricated, so his hadith deserves to be avoided, his narration shunned, and citing what he narrates abandoned, given the predominance of rejected reports in what he transmits," in Majruhin (697). On this basis Busiri graded him daif in Ithaf (2714).As for Haythami, he said in Majma al-Zawaid (133), "Abu Yaala reported it and its chain is hasan." It seems he thought this was Isa bin Maymun Jurashi, Abu Musa, known as Ibn Daya, who is trustworthy.Ibn Hajar said, "Ibn Main and Ibn Hibban distinguished between the two." Ibn Hibban said in Thiqat (489/8) regarding the second one, "His hadith is sound."This is the one Haythami assumed him to be, and so graded him hasan on that basis, but the correct view is that he is Ubays bin Maymun, based on the indication mentioned by Bukhari, which Busiri relied upon in grading him daif.
