The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "There are four practices from the days of ignorance found among my community that the people will not abandon: wailing over the dead, attacking lineages, belief in contagion (one camel becomes mangy, then a hundred camels become mangy. But who made the first camel mangy?), and attributing rain to the stars (saying, 'We were given rain by such-and-such a star')."
قال رسول الله ﷺ: أربع في أمتي من أمر الجاهلية لن يدعهن الناس: النياحة، والطعن في الأحساب، والعدوى (أجرب بعير فأجرب مائة بعير. من أجرب البعير الأول؟)، والأنواء (مطرنا بنوء كذا وكذا).
Tirmidhi narrated it (1001) from Mahmud bin Ghaylan, who said, "Abu Dawud narrated to us, Shubah and Masudi informed us," from Alqama bin Marthad, from Abu Rabi, from Abu Hurairah, and he mentioned it. Tirmidhi said, "It is a hasan hadith."I say, this is as he said, for Abu Rabi is hasan in hadith. Abu Hatim said of him, "Sound in hadith." As for Masudi, although his memory had become confused in his later years, Shubah corroborated him. Imam Ahmad narrated it (9872) through the route of Shubah and Hajjaj, both of them from Alqama bin Marthad, with similar wording.As for Abu Dawud, he is Tayalisi, the author of the Musnad, who narrated it through this same route (2395). Ibn Hibban graded it sahih (3142), narrating it through another route with a sahih chain from Abu Hurairah, similarly.It has another chain, narrated by Bazzar in Kashf Astar (800), from Ibrahim bin Muhammad bin Salama, who said, "Muslim bin Ibrahim narrated to us, Suwayd Yamami narrated to us, Yahya bin Abu Kathir narrated to us," from Abu Salama, from Abu Hurairah, who said, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "There are four things among my nation that they will not give up, boasting of lineages, slandering genealogies, and wailing. The wailing woman will be raised on the Day of Resurrection, if she has not repented, clothed in a garment of tar."Haythami said in Majma (3/13), "Bazzar narrated it, and its chain is hasan."I say, the fourth trait was not mentioned here. Perhaps it is seeking rain through the stars, as appears in the hadith of Tirmidhi. The hadith of Abu Hurairah has other chains besides this one, but what I have mentioned is the most sahih of them.
