The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to seek protection with these words, "Remove the harm, Lord of mankind. Heal, for You are the Healer. There is no healing except Your healing, a healing that leaves no illness behind."When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ grew gravely ill during the sickness in which he died, I took his hand and began wiping him with it while reciting these words. He withdrew his hand from mine and said, "Lord, forgive me and join me with the highest company."Abu Muawiya said, She said, "These were the last words I heard from him."Ibn Jafar said that whenever the Prophet ﷺ visited a sick person, he would wipe him with his hand and say, "Remove."
كان رسول الله ﷺ يعوذ بهذه الكلمات: أذهب الباس رب الناس، اشف وأنت الشافي، لا شفاء إلا شفاؤك، شفاء لا يغادر سقما، فلما ثقل رسول الله ﷺ في مرضه الذي مات فيه، أخذت بيده فجعلت أمسحه بها وأقولها قالت: فنزع يده مني ثم قال: رب اغفر لي، وألحقني بالرفيق. قال أبو معاوية: قالت: فكان هذا آخر ما سمعت من كلامه. قال ابن جعفر: إن النبي ﷺ و كان إذا عاد مريضا مسحه بيده. وقال: أذهب.
Imam Ahmad narrated it (24182) from Abu Muawiya, who said, Amash narrated to us, from Muslim, from Masruq, from Ayesha, who said, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ." Ibn Jafar said, Shuba narrated to us, from Sulayman, from Abu Duha (who is Muslim), from Masruq, from Ayesha, who said, and then he mentioned it. Muslim also narrated it in the Book of Greetings (2191) through several chains from Shuba, but did not give the full wording. Imam Ahmad also narrated it (26243) through another route from Amr bin Malik, from Abu Jawza, that Ayesha said, "I used to seek protection for the Messenger of Allah ﷺ with a supplication whenever he fell ill, which Jibreel used to use to seek protection for him and to pray for him whenever he was ill." She said, "So I went to seek protection for him with it, 'Take away the harm, Lord of mankind, in Your hand is the healing, there is no healer but You, grant a healing that leaves no illness behind.'" She said, "So I went to pray for him with it during the illness from which he died, and he said, 'Take it away from me.'" He said, "For it used only to benefit me for a limited time."Amr bin Malik is al-Nukri. The Hafiz said of him, "He makes mistakes and produces unusual reports." And in al-Taqrib he said, "Truthful, but he has some lapses." So perhaps his statement, "Take it away from me..." is one of his lapses, since no one else corroborated him in it.
