The Prophet ﷺ said, "There are two things the son of Adam dislikes. He dislikes death, yet death is better for the believer than trial. And he dislikes having little wealth, yet having little wealth means less to account for."
أن النبي ﷺ قال: اثنتان يكرههما ابن آدم: الموت، والموت خير للمؤمن من الفتنة، ويكره قلة المال، وقلة المال أقل للحساب.
Imam Ahmad narrated it (23625) from Abu Salama, who said, Abdul-Aziz, meaning Ibn Muhammad, told us, from Amr (that is, Ibn Abu Amr), from Asim bin Umar bin Qatada, from Mahmud bin Labeed, and he mentioned it.He also narrated it (23626) from Sulayman bin Dawud, who said, Ismail (that is, Ibn Jafar) told us, who said, Amr bin Abu Amr told me, with his chain, in similar fashion. Baghawi also reported it in Sharh al-Sunnah (4066) through another route from Amr bin Abu Amr, with the same wording.Its chain is hasan because of Abdul-Aziz bin Muhammad, who is Darawardi, and he is truthful, and because of his teacher Amr bin Abu Amr, who is disputed. Ibn Main and Nasai declared him daif, while others accepted him as reliable. The conclusion regarding him is that his hadith is hasan, as Dhahabi said.Munziri mentioned it in Targhib wa Tarhib (4813) and attributed it to Ahmad, saying, "Ahmad narrated it through two chains, the narrators of one of which are relied upon in the Sahih. Mahmud had seen the Prophet, but I do not think his hearing from him is established." I say, his hadith is regarded as a Companion's mursal report, which is a valid proof according to the majority.Haythami mentioned it in Majma (2/321) and said, "Ahmad narrated it, and its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih."
