Ibn Majah (199) narrated it from Hisham bin Ammar, who said, Sadaqa bin Khalid told us, who said, Ibn Jabir told us, who said, I heard Busr bin Ubaydullah say, I heard Abu Idris Khawlani say, Nawas bin Saman told me, and he related it. This same chain was also used by Ibn Abu Asim in Sunnah (219). Ibn Jabir is Abdul-Rahman bin Yazid bin Jabir, and Hisham bin Ammar has a slight weakness in him because when he grew old he began to be prompted by others, except that he was not alone in narrating this. Imam Ahmad (17630) narrated it from Walid bin Muslim, who said, I heard, meaning Ibn Jabir, say, Busr bin Ubaydullah Hadrami told me, with his chain of transmission, in the same manner.This same chain was also used by Daraqutni in Sifat (43). Ibn Khuzayma graded it sahih and included it in Kitab Tawhid (132), as did Ibn Manda in Radd Ali Jahmiya (68), both by way of Walid bin Muslim. Ibn Hibban included it in his Sahih (943) by way of Abdullah bin Mubarak, and Hakim (1/525) by way of Bishr bin Bakr, all of them narrating from Abdul-Rahman bin Yazid bin Jabir, with his chain of transmission, in the same manner. Hakim said, "Sahih according to the standard of Muslim."I say, Walid bin Muslim was a mudallis, except that he explicitly stated the mode of transmission, and moreover he was not alone in narrating this, since Abdullah bin Mubarak and Bishr bin Bakr followed him in narrating from Ibn Jabir with the same content.As for Ibn Musaffa, he narrated it from Abu Mughira, who said, Walid bin Sulayman bin Abu Saaib told us, who said, Busr bin Ubaydullah told us, from Abu Idris Khawlani, from Naeem bin Hammar, who said, I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and he related something similar. He thus made it part of the narration transmitted by Naeem bin Hammar. Perhaps this error goes back to Ibn Musaffa, whose name was Muhammad, for he was described as "truthful but prone to errors." Ibn Abu Asim narrated it by this route in Sunnah (221).
