Malik narrated it in his chapter on funerals (50) from Abu Zinad, from Aaraj, from Abu Hurairah, as mentioned. Bukhari narrated it in the chapter on monotheism (7504) from Ismail (who is Ibn Abu Uways), who said, Malik narrated to me, as mentioned. Muslim narrated it in the chapter on remembrance and supplication (2685) through another route, from Shurayh bin Hani, from Abu Hurairah, as mentioned.He said, I went to Ayesha and said, "Mother of the Believers, I heard Abu Hurairah relating a hadith from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. If it is as he said, then we are ruined." She said, "The one who is ruined is the one who is ruined despite the word of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. What is it?" He said, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever loves to meet Allah, Allah loves to meet him, and whoever hates to meet Allah, Allah hates to meet him." Yet there is not one of us who does not hate death.She said, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ did indeed say that, but it is not what you take it to mean. Rather, when the sight becomes fixed, and the chest rattles, and the skin shivers, and the fingers contract, at that point whoever loves to meet Allah, Allah loves to meet him, and whoever hates to meet Allah, Allah hates to meet him." End of narration.Her saying "the chest rattles" refers to the fluctuation of breath within the chest.
