He heard the Prophet ﷺ say, "Whoever is prompted at the time of death to say 'There is no god but Allah' will enter Paradise."
أنه سمع النبي ﷺ يقول: من لقن عند الموت لا إله إلا الله دخل الجنة.
Imam Ahmad narrated it (15894) from Hasan bin Musa, who said, "Hammad bin Salama narrated to us, from Ata bin Saaib, from Zazan Abu Umar, who said, 'Someone who heard the Prophet ﷺ say...' told me," then he related the hadith.Its chain of transmission is sahih. Ata bin Saaib is trustworthy, and the leading scholars affirmed his reliability, though his memory became confused in his later years. However, Hammad bin Salama's narration from him was before this confusion set in. Haythami mentioned it in Majma (2/322), attributed it to Ahmad, and criticized it because of Ata bin Saaib, without distinguishing between those who narrated from him before his confusion and those who narrated from him after it.Zazan Abu Umar Kindi Bazzar is trustworthy, though he sometimes narrates without specifying his source. Here, however, he explicitly states that he heard it from someone who heard it from the Prophet ﷺ. Some narrations indicate that the companion in question was Ibn Umar.
