Abu Dawud (3102) narrated it from Abdullah bin Muhammad Nufayli, who said, "Hajjaj bin Muhammad related to us, from Yunus bin Abu Ishaq, from his father, from Zayd bin Arqam," and he mentioned it. Hakim (1/342) also narrated it through this same route, and said, "Sahih according to the standard of the two Shaykhs."I say, its chain is hasan because of Yunus bin Abu Ishaq, for there is disagreement about him, though his hadith is hasan. Also, Bukhari did not narrate from him in his Sahih, and his father was known to mix up narrations and to practice tadlis, though he did explicitly state that he heard it directly in the narration of Salm bin Qutayba, who said, "Yunus bin Abu Ishaq related to us, from Abu Ishaq, who said, 'I heard Zayd bin Arqam say, "My eyes became inflamed, and the Prophet ﷺ came to visit me. He then said, 'O Zayd, if your eye were to remain as it is, what would you do?' I said, 'I would bear it patiently and seek reward from Allah.' He said, 'If your eye were to remain as it is, and you bore it patiently and sought reward from Allah, your reward would be Paradise.'"'"Bukhari narrated this in Adab al-Mufrad (532) from Abdul-Rahman bin Mubarak, who said, "Salm bin Qutayba related to us," with the same wording. Salm bin Qutayba is "truthful."Tabarani added, "He then went blind after the Prophet ﷺ died, and then Allah restored his sight to him, and he later died, may Allah have mercy on him."Haythami said in Majma (2/309), "It contains Nubata bint Barir bin Hammad, whom I have not found anyone mention."
