Uthman reported that he came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said, "I have a pain that is destroying me."The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Wipe it with your right hand seven times and say, 'I seek refuge in the might of Allah and His power from the evil of what I find.'"Uthman said, "I did that, and Allah removed what was afflicting me. I have continued to instruct my family and others to use it ever since."
Malik narrated it in al-Ayn (9) from Yazid bin Khusayfa, that Amr bin Abdullah bin Kaab Sulami told him, that Nafi bin Jubayr told him, from Uthman bin Abu As, and he mentioned it.Muslim narrated it in al-Salam (2202) through another route from Ibn Shihab, who said, Nafi bin Jubayr bin Mutim told me with his chain of transmission that he complained to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ of a pain he had been feeling in his body since he had become Muslim. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to him, "Put your hand on the part of your body that hurts, and say, 'In the name of Allah,' three times, and say seven times, 'I seek refuge in Allah and His power from the evil of what I feel and am wary of.'"
