The Prophet ﷺ said that Allah, glorified is He, says, "Son of Adam, if you show patience and seek reward from Me at the first shock of grief, I will accept nothing less than Paradise as your reward."
عن النبي ﷺ قال: يقول الله سبحانه: ابن آدم! إن صبرت واحتسبت عند الصدمة الأولى لم أرض ثوابا دون الجنة.
Ibn Majah (1597) narrated it from Hisham bin Ammar, who said, "Ismail bin Ayyash narrated to us, who said, 'Thabit bin Ajlan narrated to us, from Qasim, from Abu Umama,'" and then he related the hadith. Imam Ahmad (22228) also narrated it from Ibrahim bin Mahdi, from Ismail bin Ayyash, with his chain of transmission, adding to it, "When I took your two precious eyes and you bore it patiently."Its chain of transmission is hasan, on account of Ismail bin Ayyash, who is Abu Utba Himsi. His memory is somewhat weak, except that he is truthful when he narrates from the people of his own region. This narration is indeed from his narration about the people of his own region, for his teacher Thabit bin Ajlan Ansari, Abu Abdullah, was from Homs and settled in Armenia, and he too is "truthful." His teacher Qasim bin Abdul-Rahman was also from Syria.As for Ibrahim bin Mahdi, the narrator from Ismail bin Ayyash, he is Masissi, originally from Baghdad. Abu Hatim deemed him reliable, and Ibn Hibban mentioned him in Thiqat. So at the very least his status does not fall below "truthful," though Ibn Hajar placed him at the level of "acceptable," meaning where he is corroborated by others. Indeed, Hisham bin Ammar corroborated him in this hadith, and it is through him that Ibn Majah narrated it, and he too is "truthful." Ibn Main, Ajli, and others deemed him reliable.
