Abu Ashath reported,

He set out early to the mosque of Damascus, hastening in his journey, and met Shaddad bin Aws along with Sanabihi.I asked, "Where are you headed, may Allah have mercy on you both?"They replied, "We are going to visit a brother of ours who is ill."So I went along with them until they entered upon that man. They asked him, "How are you this morning?"He said, "I am in a state of blessing."Shaddad said to him, "Receive glad tidings of the expiation of sins and the removal of wrongdoings, for I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, 'Indeed, Allah عز وجل says, "When I afflict a believing servant of Mine and he praises Me for what I have afflicted him with, he rises from that sickbed of his as free of sins as the day his mother bore him." And the Lord عز وجل says, "I have restrained My servant and tested him, so record for him the reward of what you used to record for him when he was healthy."'"
