The Prophet of Allah ﷺ said, "Attend the remembrance and draw near to the imam, for a man keeps distancing himself until he is placed at the back even in Paradise, though he enters it."
أن نبي الله ﷺ قال: احضروا الذكر، وادنوا من الإمام، فإن الرجل لا يزال يتباعد حتى يؤخر في الجنة وإن دخلها.
Abu Dawud (1108) narrated it, he said, Ali bin Abdullah told us, Muaz bin Hisham told us, he said, I found it in my father's book in his own handwriting, though I did not hear it from him, Qatada said, from Yahya bin Malik, from Samura bin Jundab, and he mentioned it.Hakim graded it sahih (1/289), narrating it by this route, and said, "This is a sahih hadith meeting the standard of Muslim, though the two of them did not include it."Tabarani narrated it in Awsat (977, Majma Bahrayn) by another route from Samura bin Jundab, with the wording, "Attend the Friday prayer and draw near the imam..." and he mentioned the rest of it.Haythami said, "It contains Hakam bin Abdul-Malik, who is daif."
