My beloved friend instructed me with three practices that I never abandon, whether traveling or at home. To sleep after praying witr, to fast three days of every month, and to pray two units of prayer after the Friday prayer.Later, Abu Hurayrah replaced "two units after the Friday prayer" with "the two units of the forenoon prayer."
Tabarani narrated it in Al-Awsat (997, Majma Bahrayn) via Abdul-Wahhab bin Ata Khafaf, from Saeed bin Abu Aruba, from Qatada, from Khilas bin Amr, from Abu Hurairah, who said, then he mentioned it. Its chain of transmission is hasan, on account of Abdul-Wahhab, for he is truthful. As for the statement, "Then Abu Hurairah..." it appears to be from the words of Khilas, the narrator from Abu Hurairah, and this indicates his careful retention of what he narrated from Abu Hurairah. It is as though Abu Hurairah was uncertain about this and later became firm in mentioning the two rakahs of Duha instead of "two rakahs after Jumuah." The two sheikhs (Bukhari and Muslim) narrated this hadith from Abu Hurairah mentioning the two rakahs of Duha, and their wording is, "My close friend advised me with three things I will not abandon until I die, fasting three days of every month, praying Duha, and sleeping on an odd number (of rakahs at night, meaning Witr)." We have already mentioned this in the book on the prayer of Duha, and to Allah belongs praise and grace. As for what has been narrated from Jabir bin Abdullah, who said, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ came to Banu Amr bin Awf on a Wednesday, and he saw things among the palm groves that he had not seen before from their care of them, so he said, "If, when you come to your festival, you were to stay until you hear what I have to say." They said, "Yes, by our fathers and mothers, O Messenger of Allah!" He said, then when they were present on Friday, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ led them in the Jumuah prayer, then prayed two rakahs after Jumuah in the masjid, and he had not been seen praying two rakahs in the masjid on the day of Jumuah after the Jumuah prayer before, he used to leave for his house before that day. Then he mentioned the hadith (meaning the hadith of Ibn Umar). This is daif. Ibn Khuzayma narrated it (1872), and from him Ibn Hibban (2484), from Ali bin Hajar, who said, Asim bin Suwayd bin Amir narrated to us, from Muhammad bin Musa bin Harith Taymi, from his father, from Jabir bin Abdullah, and he mentioned the like of it.In it is Asim bin Suwayd, and his teacher Muhammad bin Musa and his father are unknown, Ibn Hibban only mentioned them in his book of reliable narrators (Thiqat). Abu Hatim said of Asim bin Suwayd, "A sheikh whose status is truthfulness, he narrated two objectionable hadiths." Yahya said, "I do not know him." Al-Jarh wal-Tadil (6/344).Haythami said in Al-Majma (3/128), after attributing it to Bazzar, Kashf Astar 951, "In it is a group whom I do not know."
