Bashir bin Aqraba reported,
I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, "Whoever delivers a sermon seeking only to show off and gain reputation, Allah 
will make him stand on the Day of Resurrection in a place of showing off and reputation."

Hasanعن بشير بن عقربة الجهني، أنه قال
سمعت رسول الله ﷺ يقول: من قام بخطبة لا يلتمس بها إلا رياء وسمعة، أوقفه الله عز وجل يوم القيامة موقف رياء وسمعة.
Ahmad (16073) reported it from Saeed bin Mansur, who said, Hajar bin Harith Ghassani narrated to us, from Abdullah bin Awf Kinani, who was a governor for Umar bin Abdul-Aziz over Ramlah, that he witnessed Abdul-Malik bin Marwan say to Bashir bin Iqrabah Juhani on the day Amr bin Saeed bin As was killed, "O Abu Yaman, I am in need today of your words, so stand and speak."He said, "I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say..." and he recounted it.Its isnad is hasan because of Abdullah bin Awf Kinani, from whom a group of narrators reported, and Ibn Hibban mentioned him among the trustworthy narrators. He was a governor for Umar bin Abdul-Aziz, and there is nothing objectionable in his hadith, so a narrator like him has his hadith graded hasan when it has sound foundations, and this is one of them. As for Hajar bin Harith Ghassani, Ibn Main deemed him trustworthy, as stated in the Questions of Ibn Mihraz (101).
