The Prophet ﷺ used to deliver his sermons leaning against a palm trunk. When a pulpit was made for him, he went over to it, and the trunk began to moan. He came to it and embraced it, and it quieted down. He said, "Had I not embraced it, it would have continued moaning until the Day of Resurrection."
أن النبي ﷺ كان يخطب إلى جذع، فلما اتخذ المنبر، ذهب إليه، فحن الجذع، فأتاه فاحتضنه، فسكن، فقال: لو لم أحتضنه لحن إلى يوم القيامة.
Ibn Majah (1415) narrated it, Abu Bakr bin Khallad Bahili told us, Bahz bin Asad told us, Hammad bin Salama told us, from Ammar bin Abu Ammar, from Ibn Abbas. And from Thabit, from Anas, and he mentioned it. Its chain of transmission is sahih. Although there has been disagreement regarding Ammar bin Abu Ammar, the majority of the scholars considered him reliable. Busiri said, "Its chain of transmission is sahih, its narrators are reliable."
