Ibn Majah (1109) narrated it from Muhammad bin Yahya (that is, Dhuhli), who said, Amr bin Khalid (that is, Harrani) told us, who said, Ibn Lahia told us, from Muhammad bin Zayd bin Muhajir, from Muhammad bin Munkadir, from Jabir bin Abdullah, and he related it. Its chain is hasan because of Ibn Lahia, who has been criticized, but there is a mursal narration that strengthens it. Abdul-Razzaq narrated in his Musannaf (5281) from Ibn Jurayj, from Ataa (that is, Ibn Abu Rabah), that the Prophet ﷺ, whenever he climbed the pulpit, would turn his face toward the people and say, "Peace be upon you." With this mursal narration, the hadith rises to the level of hasan li-ghayrihi.Abu Hatim was asked about this hadith with this chain, and he said, "This is a fabricated hadith." Al-Ilal (590). He is an authority in criticism and validation of narrators, so I do not know the reason for his judging it fabricated. Ibn Lahia has only minor criticism against him, he is not abandoned as a narrator, and there is nothing objectionable or anomalous in his hadith. Rather, a sahih mursal narration strengthens it. On the same meaning there is also the hadith of Ibn Umar, though it contains weakness, and the mursal narration of Shaybi, which also contains weakness, but taken together they strengthen the hadith of Ibn Lahia.And Allah, the Exalted, knows best what is correct.
