Muhammad bin Abu Umar Adani related it in his Musnad (720 - Matalib), and from his route Tabarani related it in Awsat (975 - Majma Bahrayn). He said, Bishr bin Sari told us, Umar bin Walid Shani told us, from Ikrima, from Ibn Abbas, and he mentioned it.Tabarani said, "No one related it from Ikrima except Umar bin Walid, and no one related it from him except Bishr, Adani related it alone." Ibn Hajar said, "Its narrators are trustworthy except Umar, for there is some criticism of him." Busiri said, "Ibn Abu Umar related it, and its narrators are trustworthy."I say, its chain is hasan, on account of Umar bin Walid, for he is truthful at the very least. Nasai said, "He is not strong." Qattan weakened him, saying, "In my view he is not one to be relied upon, but there is no harm in him." Ahmad, Ibn Main, and Abu Zura affirmed his trustworthiness. Abu Zura said, "I see no harm in his hadith. Most of his hadith is from Ikrima only, rarely does he extend it further to Ibn Abbas. He is not like Shabib bin Bishr, who made most of his hadith connected."I say, this statement indicates his precision and his memorization of what he raises up from Ikrima, from Ibn Abbas. Ibn Hibban also mentioned him, as did Ibn Shahin in "Thiqat." So his hadith is hasan, Allah willing.As for Tabarani's statement, "Adani related it alone," Adani is Muhammad bin Yahya bin Abu Umar Adani, the compiler of the well-known Musnad. Ibn Main and Daraqutni affirmed his trustworthiness, and Muslim relied on him as evidence in "Sahih". Ahmad used to urge the people of hadith to take from him, and Ibn Hibban mentioned him among the trustworthy. Someone like this is not harmed by relating alone. However, Abu Hatim Razi said, "There was some inattentiveness in him." And Allah knows best.
