Tirmidhi (1074) narrated it from Muhammad bin Bashshar, who said, Abdul-Rahman bin Mahdi and Abu Amir Aqadi told us, they said, Hisham bin Saad told us, from Saeed bin Abu Hilal, from Rabia bin Sayf, from Abdullah bin Amr, and he related the hadith. Tirmidhi said, "Hasan gharib, and this hadith's chain is not connected. Rabia bin Sayf only narrates from Abu Abdul-Rahman Hubli, from Abdullah bin Amr, and we do not know of Rabia bin Sayf having heard directly from Abdullah bin Amr." This is how it appears in the edition of Muhammad Fuad Abdul-Baqi, while in other copies it says only "gharib." This latter is correct, because hasan and disconnection do not go together.As for the hadith itself, it has other paths that strengthen it. Among them is what Imam Ahmad narrated through two routes. The first (6646) is from Siraj, who said, Baqiyya told us, from Muawiya bin Saeed, from Abu Qabil, from Abdullah bin Amr, and he related it. Baqiyya is a mudallis and he narrated using "an," but he explicitly stated direct narration in the second route, which Imam Ahmad narrated (7050) from Ibrahim bin Abu Abbas, who said, Baqiyya told us, saying, Muawiya bin Saeed Tujaybi told me, I heard Abu Qabil Misri say, I heard Abdullah bin Amr bin As, and he related it. Baqiyya explicitly stated direct narration in this chain, just as he explicitly stated hearing it throughout the rest of the chain, which removes the suspicion of tadlis. This is a hasan chain, for Abu Qabil Misri is Huyayy bin Hani, of whom Imam Ahmad, Ibn Main, and Abu Zura said, "Trustworthy." Abu Hatim said, "Sound in hadith."The hadith has other paths as well, but what I have mentioned is the soundest of them.There are two other hadiths on this subject, but both are daif. The first is the hadith of Anas bin Malik, narrated by Abu Yaala (4099, Athari edition) from Abu Muamar Ismail bin Ibrahim, who said, Abdullah bin Jafar told us, from Waqid bin Salama, from Yazid Raqashi, from Anas, that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever dies on the day of Jumuah is protected from the punishment of the grave." Waqid bin Salama and his teacher Yazid Raqashi (who is Ibn Aban Qass) are both daif.The second is the hadith of Jabir bin Abdullah, extracted by Abu Naeem in al-Hilya (3/155) through the narration of Umar bin Musa bin Wajih, from Muhammad bin Munkadir, from Jabir, similarly. Abu Naeem said, "Gharib from the hadith of Jabir and Muhammad bin Munkadir, narrated solely by Umar bin Musa, who is from Madinah and has some weakness in him." This Umar bin Musa is mentioned by Dhahabi in al-Mizan, who quotes Ibn Adi as saying, "He is among those who fabricate hadith, both in wording and chain." Abu Hatim said, "His hadith is worthless, he used to fabricate hadith." Bukhari and Daraqutni also criticized him. Someone like this cannot be cited as corroboration.
