The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever abandons the Friday prayer three times without necessity, Allah will seal his heart."
قال رسول الله ﷺ: من ترك الجمعة ثلاثا من غير ضرورة طبع الله على قلبه.
Ibn Majah reported it (1126) via Zuhayr and Ibn Abu Dhib, both of them from Usayd bin Abu Usayd, from Abdullah bin Abu Qatada, from Jabir bin Abdullah, and he mentioned the hadith. This isnad is hasan, and Ibn Khuzayma (1856) and Busiri graded it sahih.Ahmad also reported it (22558) via Abdul-Aziz bin Muhammad (who is Darawardi), from Usayd, from Abdullah bin Abu Qatada, from his father. But the correct version is, from Abdullah bin Abu Qatada, from Jabir, as Zuhayr and Ibn Abu Dhib narrated it, and this is what Abu Hatim preferred in al-Ilal, as recorded by his son (1/396), where he said, "Ibn Abu Dhib has better memory than Darawardi, and this version seems more likely to be correct, and it appears that Darawardi stuck to the well-worn path of the chain."That is, he stuck to the familiar pattern of the isnad, which is "Ibn Abu Qatada, from his father." So he erred, because the correct version is that Ibn Abu Qatada narrated this from Jabir, not from his father. And Allah knows best.
