I saw the Prophet ﷺ delivering a sermon while mounted on a she-camel, with an Abyssinian man holding the camel's halter.
رأيت النبي ﷺ يخطب على ناقة، وحبشي آخذ بخطام الناقة.
Nasai narrated it (1573), and Ibn Majah (1284, 1285), both by way of Ismail bin Abu Khalid, who said, "I saw Abu Kahil, who was a companion of the Prophet. My brother told me a hadith from him," and he then related it.Its chain of transmission is hasan. The brother of Ismail bin Abu Khalid is named Saeed, and he is among the men listed in Tahdhib. Ajli and Ibn Hibban both deemed him trustworthy, and Ibn Hibban graded it sahih, including it in his Sahih (3874). Imam Ahmad also narrated it (16715), both by way of Ismail bin Abu Khalid, with the same wording. It causes no harm that some narrations state the name of Ismail bin Abu Khalid's brother as Ashath, for even if this is correct, he may have narrated from both of them together, and the second narration would strengthen it.
