She said, meaning the Prophet ﷺ, "He commanded us to bring out the young unmarried women and the secluded maidens for the two Eid prayers, and he ordered menstruating women to keep away from the Muslims' prayer ground."
أمرنا (تعني النبي ﷺ) أن نخرج في العيدين العواتق وذوات الخدور، وأمر الحيض أن يعتزلن مصلى المسلمين.
Bukhari related it in the book of the two Eids (974), and Muslim in the book of the two Eids (890), both of them through Hammad, from Ayub, from Muhammad, from Umm Atiya, and he mentioned it, with the wording being Muslim's.Muslim also has it from another route, through Asim Ahwal, from Hafsa bint Sirin, from Umm Atiya, who said, "We used to be ordered to go out on the two Eids, the secluded woman and the young unmarried girl." She said, "The menstruating women would go out and stay behind the people, saying the takbir along with the people."He also related it from another route, through Hisham, from Hafsa bint Sirin, from Umm Atiya, who said, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ ordered us to bring them out on Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha, the young unmarried women, the menstruating women, and the secluded women. As for the menstruating women, they would keep away from the prayer but witness the good and the supplication of the Muslims." I said, "O Messenger of Allah, what if one of us does not have an outer garment?" He said, "Let her sister lend her one of her outer garments to wear."
