Abdullah bin Busr, the companion of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, went out with the people on the day of Eid al-Fitr or Eid al-Adha. He disapproved of the imam's delay and said, "By this hour we would already have finished," and that was at the time of the forenoon prayer.
خرج عبد الله بن بسر صاحب رسول الله ﷺ مع الناس في يوم عيد فطر، أو أضحى، فأنكر إبطاء الإمام فقال: إنا كنا قد فرغنا ساعتنا هذه، وذلك حين التسبيح.
Abu Dawud (1135) narrated it from Ahmad bin Hanbal, who said, Abu Mughira narrated to us, who said, Safwan narrated to us, who said, Yazid bin Khumayr Rahbi narrated to us, and he mentioned it.Hakim (1/295) narrated it, and Bayhaqi (3/282) narrated it from him, by way of Qutayi, who said, Abdullah bin Ahmad narrated to us, who said, my father narrated to me, with the same wording.Ibn Hajar mentioned it in Atraf Musnad (2/688) (3075) and in Ithaf Mahra (6/530) (6938). I did not find this hadith in the printed edition of Musnad Imam Ahmad, so perhaps it is in the manuscript copies that Ibn Hajar had access to.Hakim said, "Sahih according to the criterion of Bukhari." The correct view is that it is according to the criterion of Muslim, as Nawawi said in Khulasa (2914), because Bukhari only narrated from Rahbi in the form of a mualaq (suspended) report. However, after further study it became clear to me that Hakim does not distinguish, in his ruling on the narrators, between what Bukhari narrated as mualaq and what he narrated with a full chain. This Rahbi is truthful (saduq), and with that the chain becomes hasan.This hadith was also narrated by Ibn Majah (1317), by another route, from Safwan bin Amr, with the same wording.
