A man passed through the mosque carrying arrows, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to him, "Hold them by their tips."
مر رجل في المسجد بسهام فقال له رسول الله ﷺ: أمسك بنصالها.
Bukhari narrated it in the Book of Prayer (451), and Muslim in the Book of Righteousness and Kinship (2614), both from the hadith of Sufyan bin Uyayna, from Amr, who heard Jabir, and he related it. This is how Muslim narrated it. As for Bukhari, in his version Sufyan said, "I said to Amr, 'Did you hear it from Jabir bin Abdullah?'" and he did not say that Amr said "Yes."However, Bukhari narrated it in the Book of Tribulations (7073) and there Amr said "Yes," which removes the difficulty raised by some scholars regarding Bukhari's chain of transmission, especially since the position held by the majority of the verifying scholars, including Bukhari himself, is that the teacher's silence is sufficient and it is not required that he explicitly say "Yes." Ibn Hajar mentioned this in Fath al-Bari (1/547).
