Umm Habiba and Umm Salama mentioned to the Prophet ﷺ a church they had seen in Abyssinia which contained images. He said, "When a righteous man among those people died, they would build a place of worship over his grave and paint these images in it. They are the worst of creation before Allah on the Day of Resurrection."
Bukhari narrated it in the Book of Prayer (427), and Muslim in the Book of Mosques (528), both from the hadith of Yahya bin Saeed, from Hisham, who said, "My father told me, from Ayesha," and he mentioned the like of it. The wording given is Bukhari's.In Muslim's wording, it says, "They spoke together in the presence of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ during his illness, and Umm Salama and Umm Habiba mentioned a church."And in another narration in Muslim, "The church was said to be called Mariya."
