The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "May Allah destroy the Jews, for they took the graves of their prophets as places of worship."
أن رسول الله ﷺ قال: قاتل الله اليهود اتخذوا قبور أنبيائهم مساجد.
Bukhari related it in the Book of Prayer (437), and Muslim related it in the Book of Mosques (530), both from the hadith of Malik, from Ibn Shihab, from Saeed bin Musayab, from Abu Hurairah, as mentioned above. Malik did not relate this hadith in the version of Yahya bin Yahya Laythi that we have in hand. However, he related it in the Jami (170) from Ismail bin Abu Hakeem, who said that he heard Umar bin Abdul-Aziz say, "Among the last things the Messenger of Allah ﷺ spoke was when he said, 'May Allah fight the Jews and the Christians, they took the graves of their prophets as places of worship. Let there not remain two religions in the land of the Arabs.'" This is a mursal hadith.
