Ahmad narrated it (16745), Bazzar in Kashf Astar (3152), Abu Yaala (7408), Nasai in Al-Yawm wal-Layla (487), Ibn Abu Asim in Al-Sunnah (507), and Daraqutni in Al-Nuzul (4), all of them by way of Hammad bin Salama, from Amr bin Dinar, from Nafi bin Jubayr, with this chain, and the wording given is that of Ahmad. Ibn Khuzayma graded it sahih and included it in Kitab Tawhid (1/292). Its chain is sahih according to the standard of Muslim, and Hafiz bin Qayyim also graded it sahih, as noted in Mukhtasar Sawaiq (p. 374).This should not be undermined by the fact that Nafi bin Jubayr narrated it at one time from his father, at another time from Abu Hurairah, and at yet another time from a man among the companions of the Prophet ﷺ. The narrator may simply be uncertain about the name of the companion, and whoever states it with certainty has the stronger claim over one who does not. As for its being narrated from his father or from Abu Hurairah, it may be that Nafi heard it from both of them.For this reason, a discrepancy occurs in some of the wordings of the hadith. In his narration from Abu Hurairah, the wording is, "until the sun has risen a spear's length," as Ibn Khuzayma recorded it in Kitab Tawhid (1/294). He said, "Between the rising of Fajr and the sun rising a spear's length there is a long interval. So the wording of the report he narrated from his father, or from an unnamed man among the companions of the Prophet ﷺ, differs from the wording of the report he narrated from Abu Hurairah. This indicates that these are two separate reports, not one report."
