He informed him that he asked Zayd bin Thabit, who claimed that he recited "By the star when it descends" [Najm 53:1] before the Prophet ﷺ, and he did not perform a prostration in it.
أنه أخبره أنه سأل زيد بن ثابت فزعم أنه قرأ على النبي ﷺ {والنجم إذا هوى} فلم يسجد فيها.
Bukhari narrated it in the chapter on prostration for Quran recitation (1072), and Muslim in the chapter on mosques (577), both through the route of Yazid bin Khusayfa, from Yazid bin Abdullah bin Qusayt, from Ata bin Yasar, who mentioned it. Their wordings are identical.Bukhari also narrated it (1073) from the hadith of Ibn Abu Dhib, from Yazid bin Abdullah bin Qusayt, from Ata bin Yasar, from Zayd bin Thabit, who said, "I recited "Wan-Najm" to the Prophet ﷺ, but he did not prostrate during it." Abu Dawud said (1405), "Zayd was leading the prayer, so he did not prostrate during it."Bayhaqi said, "We have narrated that he ﷺ said, 'I was leading the prayer, and had I prostrated, you would have prostrated with me.'" He narrated it from Zayd bin Aslam, from Ata bin Yasar, as a mursal report, and said, "Ishaq bin Abdullah bin Abu Farwa narrated it from Zayd bin Aslam, from Ata bin Yasar, from Abu Hurairah, as a connected report, but Ishaq is daif."
