The Prophet ﷺ would recite the Quran, and when he came to a surah containing a prostration, he would prostrate and we would prostrate with him, until some of us could not find a place to put our forehead.
أن النبي ﷺ كان يقرأ القرآن، فيقرأ سورة فيها سجدة، فيسجد ونسجد معه، حتى ما يجد بعضنا موضعا لمكان جبهته.
Bukhari related it in the Chapter on Prostration of the Quran (1075), and Muslim in the Chapter on Mosques (575), both from the hadith of Yahya bin Saeed, from Ubaydullah, who said, Nafi told me, from Ibn Umar, and he mentioned it. The wording given is Muslim's, and Bukhari's wording is similar to it. Muslim also related it through Muhammad bin Bishr, from Ubaydullah, adding in it, "outside of prayer."Abu Dawud related it (1413) through Abdul-Razzaq, who said, Abdullah bin Umar told us, from Nafi, adding in it, "He said the takbir and prostrated, and we prostrated with him." Abdul-Razzaq said that Thawri was impressed by this hadith. Abu Dawud said, He was impressed by it because he said the takbir.I say, its chain contains Abdullah bin Umar, who is the son of Hafs bin Asim bin Umar bin Khattab. Munziri said, "More than one of the scholars have found fault with him, and Muslim cited him only paired with his brother Ubaydullah bin Umar."
