When the sun was eclipsed during the time of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, a call was made, "The prayer is gathering."The Prophet ﷺ performed two bowings within one prostration unit, then stood and performed two more bowings within another prostration unit, then sat, and by then the sun had cleared.Ayesha said, "I never made a prostration longer than that one." This is the wording in Bukhari. In Muslim, the wording is, "I never performed a bowing or a prostration longer than that one."
لما كسفت الشمس على عهد رسول الله ﷺ نودي: إن الصلاة جامعة. فركع النبي ﷺ ركعتين في سجدة، ثم قام فركع ركعتين في سجدة، ثم جلس، ثم جلي عن الشمس. قال: وقالت عائشة: ما سجدت سجودا قط كان أطول منها، كذا في البخاري، وفي مسلم ما ركعت ركوعا قط ولا سجدت سجودا قط كان أطول منه.
Bukhari narrated it in the Book of the Eclipse (1051), and Muslim in the Book of the Eclipse (910), both through the route of Abu Muawiya (who is Shayban Nahwi), from Yahya bin Abu Kathir, from Abu Salama, from Abdullah bin Amr, and he mentioned it.Bukhari (1045) and Muslim also narrated it, both through the route of Muawiya bin Salam, from Yahya bin Abu Kathir, except that Bukhari confined himself to his saying, "When the sun eclipsed in the time of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, it was announced, 'The prayer is being gathered.'"
