The Prophet ﷺ went out to the prayer ground to pray for rain. He faced the qiblah, prayed two rakahs, and turned his cloak around.Sufyan said, Masudi informed me, from Abu Bakr, who said, "He placed the right side over the left."
خرج النبي ﷺ إلى المصلى يستسقي، واستقبل القبلة، فصلى ركعتين، وقلب رداءه. قال سفيان: فأخبرني المسعودي، عن أبي بكر قال: جعل اليمين على الشمال.
Bukhari narrated it in the book of seeking rain (1027), and Muslim in the book of seeking rain (2/894), both through the route of Sufyan, from Abdullah bin Abu Bakr, who heard Abbad bin Tamim narrating from his uncle, and he related it. The wording given is Bukhari's.
