His father saw people praying the forenoon prayer and said, "They are performing a prayer that neither the Messenger of Allah ﷺ nor most of his companions ever prayed."
أن أباه رأى أناسا يصلون صلاة الضحى فقال: أما إنهم يصلون صلاة ما صلاها رسول الله ﷺ ولا عامة أصحابه.
Darimi (1463) and Nasai in al-Kubra (480) both narrated it through the hadith of Muaz bin Muaz, who said, Shubah narrated to me, from Fudayl bin Fadala, Abdul-Rahman bin Abu Bakra narrated to me, and he mentioned it.Fudayl bin Fadala is Qaysi, Basri. Ali bin Madini said, "We do not know of anyone who narrated from this shaykh other than Shubah." Ibn Main, Ibn Shahin, and others authenticated him. His hadith is hasan.
