Imam Ahmad (9758) narrated it from Waki, and Bazzar - Kashf Astar (696) - through Qabisa, both of them from Sufyan, from Asim bin Kulayb, from his father, from Abu Hurairah, who related it. Its chain is hasan due to discussion regarding Asim and his father, though they are both truthful.Bazzar said, "We do not know of anyone who narrated it from Asim except Sufyan, and Qabisa and Waki both narrated it from Sufyan."I say, it is as he said. Nasai also narrated it in Kubra (479) through Waki, except that he did not mention the exception, which is Abu Hurairah's statement, "except one time." Bazzar narrated it through Qabisa, from Sufyan, with the same wording.Abu Hurairah's denial is to be understood as based on his own knowledge.
