The Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent out a military expedition. They gained spoils and returned swiftly. The people spoke about how near their campaign had been, how plentiful their spoils, and how quick their return. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Shall I not guide you to a campaign nearer than theirs, with more abundant spoils and a swifter return? Whoever performs ablution and then proceeds to the mosque for the forenoon prayer, his is the nearer campaign, the more abundant spoils, and the swifter return."
Imam Ahmad narrated it (6638) from Hasan, who said, Ibn Lahia narrated to us, Huyayy bin Abdullah narrated to me, that Abu Abdul-Rahman Hubli narrated to him, from Abdullah bin Amr, and he mentioned it. Its isnad is hasan, for Huyayy bin Abdullah is a disputed narrator, and the gist of what is said about him, as Ibn Adi put it, is, "I hope there is no harm in him when a trustworthy narrator transmits from him." As for Ibn Lahia, there is well known criticism of him, but he has been corroborated. Tabarani narrated it in Al-Kabir (100, a fragment of part 13-14) through another route from Ibn Wahb, who said, Huyayy narrated to me, with his isnad, similarly.Haythami said in Al-Majma (2352), "Ahmad and Tabarani narrated it in Al-Kabir, and it contains Ibn Lahia, about whom there is criticism. But the narrators of Tabarani's version are trustworthy, because he put Ibn Wahb in place of Ibn Lahia."Munziri said in Targhib wa Tarhib (1/463), "Ahmad narrated it through the transmission of Ibn Lahia, and Tabarani with a good isnad."
