The Messenger of Allah ﷺ combined his prayers during a journey he made on the expedition of Tabuk. He combined the Zuhr and Asr prayers, and the Maghrib and Isha prayers.Saeed said, "I asked Ibn Abbas, 'What led him to do that?'"Ibn Abbas replied, "He wished not to place his community in hardship."
Muslim narrated it in "Prayer of the Traveler" (51/705) by way of Qurrah, from Abu Zubayr, who said, Saeed bin Jubayr narrated to us, who said, Ibn Abbas narrated to us, and he related it. Ibn Khuzayma (967) also narrated it through this same route. This is the sahih version from him.
