I was with Abdullah bin Amr bin As when his steward arrived from Syria. It was nearing the end of a night in Ramadan.Abdullah asked him, "Did you leave enough provisions for my family?"The steward replied, "I left them an allowance."Abdullah said, "I insist that you go back and leave them what suffices them. For I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, 'It is sin enough for a man to neglect those whom he is bound to feed.'"Then he began to narrate to us, saying, "When the sun sets, it offers its salutation, prostrates, and seeks permission, and permission is granted. But there will come a day when it sets, offers its salutation, prostrates, and seeks permission, yet permission will not be granted. It will say, 'My Lord, the journey is far, and I have not been given leave. I shall not reach my destination.' So it will be held back as long as Allah wills, then it will be told, 'Rise from where you set.'"He continued, "From that day until the Day of Resurrection, 'no soul will benefit from its faith if it had not believed before' [Anam 6:158]."He also mentioned Yajuj and Majuj, saying, "Not one of them dies until a thousand are born from his loins. Behind them are three nations whose numbers none knows but Allah, Mansak, Tawil, and Tawis."
Abdul-Razzaq related it in Musannaf (20810) from Maamar, from Abu Ishaq, from Wahb bin Jabir Khaywani, and so on, as he mentioned it. Hakim narrated it through this same route (4/500-501) and said, "Sahih according to the criteria of the two Shaykhs." Dhahabi cited it in Uluww (221), quoting from Ibn Manda, that its chain of transmission is sahih.I say, it is hasan only, because of Wahb bin Jabir, since there is disagreement about him. Ibn Main and Ajli both deemed him reliable, and Ibn Hibban listed him among the trustworthy narrators, while Ibn Madini considered him unknown. Moreover, he is not among the narrators of the two Shaykhs, for only Abu Dawud and Nasai narrated from him.
