Nasai (1078) narrated it from Ishaq bin Ibrahim, who said, Abdul-Razzaq informed us, who said, Mamar narrated to us, from Zuhri, from Salim, from his father, and he related it. Its chain of transmission is sahih. The hadith is found in Musannaf Abdul-Razzaq (4027), and from him it was narrated by Imam Ahmad (6349), Ibn Khuzayma (622), and Ibn Hibban (1987).The jurisprudence of this chapter: there is no disagreement among the scholars that when a calamity befalls the Muslims, it is recommended to recite the qunut for it in all the prayers, and to abandon it when the calamity is gone, except for Shafii, who holds that the qunut should continue permanently in the Fajr prayer.The majority interpreted his statement, "then he abandoned it," to mean that he abandoned the cursing and the supplication against those tribes mentioned in the hadith. Shafii and those who agreed with him interpreted it to mean that he abandoned it in the four prayers but did not abandon it in the Fajr prayer, based on what was reported from Anas in a daif hadith, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ continued reciting the qunut in the Fajr prayer until he departed this world," permanently, as will come later in the chapter on abandoning the qunut.Imam Ahmad said, "The qunut should not be recited in the Fajr prayer except when a calamity befalls the Muslims, in which case the imam supplicates for the armies of the Muslims."And Sufyan said, "If one recites the qunut in the Fajr prayer, that is good, but I prefer abandoning the qunut in it."
