The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to pray eleven units during the night, making one of them the witr. When he finished, he would lie down on his right side.
أن رسول الله ﷺ كان يصلي من الليل إحدى عشرة ركعة يوتر منها بواحدة، فإذا فرغ اضطجع على شقة الأيمن.
Malik narrated it in "Prayer at Night" (8), from Ibn Shihab, from Urwa bin Zubayr, from Ayesha, and mentioned it as before. Muslim also narrated it in "Prayer of the Traveler" (736), from Yahya bin Yahya, from Malik, with the same wording, adding at the end of the hadith, "until the muezzin came to him, whereupon he would pray two light rakats."He also narrated it through the route of Amr bin Harith, from Ibn Shihab, with the same chain, and in it, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to pray, between finishing the night prayer and Fajr, eleven rakats, ending each two rakats with the salutation, and finishing with a single rakat as the odd prayer...
