When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ arrived in Medina, people rushed out toward him, and it was being announced, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ has come! The Messenger of Allah ﷺ has come! The Messenger of Allah ﷺ has come!"I came along with the crowd to see him. When I looked closely at the face of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, I knew that his was not the face of a liar. The first thing he said was, "People, spread the greeting of peace, feed others, pray while people are sleeping, and you will enter Paradise in peace."
Tirmidhi (2485) and Ibn Majah (1334) both narrated it from the hadith of Yahya bin Saeed and others, from Awf bin Abu Jameela, from Zurara bin Awfa, from Abdullah bin Salam, who related it. Tirmidhi said, "Sahih."Hakim also narrated it (3/13) through the route of Hawdha bin Khalifa, from Awf bin Abu Jameela with the same chain, adding to the hadith, "and maintain ties with kin." He said, "Sahih according to the standard of the two Shaykhs (Bukhari and Muslim)."I say, this is a mistake on his part, for the two of them did not narrate from Hawdha bin Khalifa. Only Ibn Majah narrated from him, and he is truthful (saduq). He then narrated it again through another route (4/159-160) from Yahya bin Saeed Qattan, from Awf bin Abu Jameela with the same chain, similarly. And he said, "Sahih in its isnad."
