Abu Dawud (1307) narrated it from Muhammad bin Bashshar, who said, Abu Dawud told us, who said, Shubah told us, from Yazid bin Khumayr, who said, I heard Abdullah bin Abu Qays, then he mentioned it.Abu Dawud here is Tayalisi, and the hadith is in his Musnad (1622) through this same route, except that he said in it, "Abdullah bin Abu Musa Nasri." Ibn Khuzayma (1137) narrated it through his route, but he stated definitively that it is Ibn Abu Qays, and Hakim (1/308) also graded it sahih, narrating it from Abu Dawud, saying in it, "Abdullah bin Abu Qays," and he said, "A hadith sahih according to the criterion of Muslim."I say, it is as he said, except that Yazid bin Khumayr, although he is among the narrators of Muslim, is nonetheless "truthful," and because of this the hadith becomes hasan.
