Abdullah bin Amr bin As reported,

He said, "The sun was eclipsed during the time of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ prayed and prolonged his standing, then he bowed and prolonged his bowing, then he rose and prolonged that as well." Shubah said, "I think he said the same regarding the prostration."He began to weep during his prostration, blowing out breath and saying, "My Lord, You did not promise me this while I am still among them. I seek Your forgiveness. You did not promise me this while I am still among them."In another narration, he then blew out breath at the end of his prostration and said, "Uff, uff." Then he said, "My Lord, did You not promise me that You would not punish them while I am among them? Did You not promise me that You would not punish them while they seek forgiveness?"The Messenger of Allah ﷺ finished his prayer, and the sun had cleared. The narrator continued the hadith at length, and it will come in the Book of the Solar Eclipse.
