I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ praying, and from his chest came a sound like the bubbling of a cooking pot from his weeping.
رأيت رسول الله ﷺ يصلي، وفي صدره أزير كأزير المرجل من البكاء.
Abu Dawud (904), Nasai (1214), and Tirmidhi in Shamail (316) all narrated it through Hammad bin Salama, from Thabit Bunani, from Mutarrif bin Abdullah bin Shikhir, from his father, who related the same. Its isnad is sahih, and Ibn Khuzayma (900) and Ibn Hibban (665) also graded it sahih, and Hakim (1/264) as well, all through this same isnad. Hakim said, "Sahih according to the criterion of Muslim."
