The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was asked about praying in the resting places of camels. He replied, "Do not pray in the resting places of camels, for they are from the devils."He was also asked about praying in the folds of sheep. He replied, "Pray in them, for they are a source of blessing."In another wording, "Do not pray in the resting places of camels, for they are from Satan."
سئل رسول الله ﷺ عن الصلاة في مبارك الإبل فقال: لا تصلوا في مبارك الإبل، فإنها من الشياطين وسئل عن الصلاة في مرابض الغنم فقال: صلوا فيها فإنها بركة. وفي لفظ: لا تصلوا في عطن الإبل فإنها من الشيطان.
Narrated by Abu Dawud (184, 493), Tirmidhi (81), and Ibn Majah (494), all of them through the hadith of Abu Muawiya, who said, Amash narrated to us, from Abdullah bin Abdullah Razi, from Abdul-Rahman bin Abu Layla, from Bara, except that Ibn Majah did not mention the account of praying in the resting places of sheep and camels. Its chain of transmission is hasan due to some discussion concerning Abdullah bin Abdullah Razi, though he is hasan al-hadith. This has already been referenced in the chapter on wudu, in the section on the nullification of wudu from eating camel meat.Ibn Khuzayma graded it sahih (32), and said, "We have not seen any disagreement among the scholars of hadith that this report is sahih in terms of transmission, due to the reliability of its transmitters." Ibn Hibban also graded it sahih (1128). Both of them narrated it likewise through the route of Amash, and both mentioned the nullification of wudu from eating camel meat. Bayhaqi (1/159) reported that Ahmad and Ishaq bin Rahawayh also graded it sahih.
