Abdullah bin Abbas reported,
The Prophet ﷺ used to say, "I seek refuge in Your might. There is no god but You. You are the One who does not die, while the jinn and humans all die."

أن النبي ﷺ يقول: أعوذ بعزتك الذي لا إله أنت الذي لا يموت، والجن والإنس يموتون.
Bukhari narrated it in the Book of Tawhid (7383), and Muslim in the Book of Remembrance (2717), both from the hadith of Abdul-Warith, who said, Husayn the Teacher narrated to us, Abdullah bin Burayda narrated to me, from Yahya bin Yamar, from Ibn Abbas, and he related it.It is not valid to use this as evidence for those who say that the angels do not die, because it is a mafhum laqab (an inference drawn merely from the naming of a subject), which carries no weight. And even granting it some weight, it is opposed by something stronger, namely the general meaning of His statement, the Exalted, "Everything is perishing except His Face" [Qasas 28:88]. Moreover, there is nothing preventing the angels from being included within the designation of jinn, given what they share in common, namely being concealed from the eyes of people.See Fath al-Bari (13/370).
